Temiscaming progress report
In this blog, Dany Gagnon, Operations Leader at Temiscaming Site, provides updates on the ongoing transformation of Temiscaming manufacturing operation.
On November 20, Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) completed the acquisition of Tembec, and the 800 employees at the Temiscaming site officially became RYAM employees.
We’re now recruiting for an Engineer, Projects (Civil/Structural) and a Project Engineer (Mechanical) to work on a capex program to improve the competitiveness of the Temiscaming manufacturing site – the centerpiece of a $136 million investment to improve Tembec’s Québec operations.
Forest products is an inherently green industry rooted in trees, a renewable resource, with a strong emphasis on recyclable products like paper. And the Temiscaming site converts manufacturing residuals into green energy, reflecting our drive to use the whole tree.
I talk for an hour or so with groups of five to seven employees at a time, about six times a week, to explain our transformation project. The objective is to personally connect with everyone at the Temiscaming site, and make sure we are all heading in the same direction.

We continue to recruit for a Manager – Internal Communications for an 18-month contract at the Temiscaming site.
We set out in early March to hire a team of seven human resources professionals for 18-month contracts. And on March 31 we filled six of those positions so we have accomplished 6/7th – make that 85% – of our original recruiting mission in short order.

We need to hire a contract HR operations team, for a combination of practical and strategic reasons.
